  • A superb stay every time, our 5th trip Summer 2011. We have stayed with Carlo and Julie over 4 -5 years and each time we have had a fantastic experience ! The accomodation and service are exceptional and our 13yr old and 7yr old love going back! We could not recommend a trip to Vialba highly enough and cannot wait to go back!

  • I don't normally write reviews but this was such a great break I thought it deserved the effort as it was such a treat!
To set the scene, if you're looking to get away from it all and take time to relax in a tranquil environment, this holiday is for you. We stayed in the Olive house at Casa Vialba. It's set in the middle of the the Italian countryside with nothing around to distract you - just the sound of the swimming pool water and not a lot else. Absolute paradise when you need a break from the stress.
When we arrived we found everyone working there really helpful and extremely friendly. They're are English owners who've lived it Italy many years so spoken English and Italian is fluent, We found them very discrete so you got everything you needed but they were in no way intrusive, so it felt that you had the place to yourself. The kitchen in the villa was fully stocked as if it was your own house, with everything from English Tea to good Italian wine. A large beautiful dining room and lounge with 2 large well furnished bedrooms. There was also an open fire there so I guess it's also equipped form winter breaks? The Olive House where we stayed is a restored old Italian stone house with all the luxuries you'd want, from a jacuzzi on both floors to sky TV (like you really want to stay in and watch TV!... actually I did once ;-) ). We went with our 3 daughters, aged between 2 and 7 years old. For them it was child heaven from the swimming pools to looking at and petting the horses that are at Casa Vialba.I guess to sum up we had one of the best holiday's of our lives. If you're a celeb needing privacy, or a high flyer needing to get away from it all, or if you're Mr & Mrs Ordinary just looking for a luxury holiday in the most beautiful of Italian settings - this holiday is for you!!

  • Having discovered Casa Vialba by sheer luck and visiting for the first time in 2008, we absolutely fell in love with the place. We stayed in Olive house and enjoyed the elegantly designed and well equipped accommodation and the luxury of a private pool. We were completely spoilt by Carlo and Julie’s hospitality with as much or as little activity laid on as you desire, from riding the Vialba horses to, archery in the menagerie and the kids having rides on Carlo’s quad bike, plus the gym and games room for some great family fun. The whole area has loads to explore from small medieval hill top towns to the bigger locations like Assisi and Perugia. By further good fortune we also went during early July when the Perugia Jazz festival and the Montone Film festival were on so there is always plenty to do for entertainment as well as many great places to eat. However you soon realize the real essence of Vialba is just chilling out, by the pool during the day or sitting on the terrace gazing up at an enormous un polluted starlit sky high up in the Umbrian hills, enjoying a glass of your favorite Italian Wine….. Hence we went back in 2010 and will hopefully be there again in 2011.

  • We stayed at Casa Vialba in Olive House in July 2009 for a family holiday and I loved it so much that I cried when we had to go home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay relaxing by the pool or visiting local towns for the markets. Nearby Umbertide and Citta di Castello have brilliant markets and there are some fabulous restaurants in Montone.
Olive house was inviting and spacious and has all the home comforts you could need. Carlo and Julie the owners were excellents hosts, attentive and on hand to answer any questions and provide information on the best places to visit and eat out, but discreet when all you wanted to do was laze by the pools. I enjoyed spending time with the horses and one of the highlights of my stay were the evening horse rides with Julie over the hills taking in amazing scenery and breathtaking views.
In all, the best holiday I have ever had and would throughly recommend to anyone.

  • We just had to come back! Having had a wonderful holiday at Casa Vialba in Lavender House last summer, we returned this year to stay in Olive House. One of the most appealing features is that each house has its own private pool, perfect for chilling out in privacy and our daughters were delighted to take advantage of the equestrian facilities. This really is in the green heart of Italy, the countryside is spectacular and there are so many beautiful historic towns close by. In our opinion this ticks all the boxes for us, combining super accommodation and stunning scenery.

  • A Marriage Made In Heaven! Wow! Casa Vialba really is heaven on earth! Having stayed here before in Olive House on family holidays in 2008 and 2009, my then fiance and I returned in September 2010. The weather for our week long stay was hot, hot, hot and relaxing by the pool was my idea of bliss.
The reason for our visit was to get married in the nearby medieval village of Montone!! I arrived as Miss Grant, and left as Mrs Pearson and couldn't have chosen a better place to get married! All of our guests also stayed at Casa Vialba in Lavender and Olive House and there was plenty of space for everyone. We had so much fun relaxing by the pools by day and trying all the fabulous restaurants nearby in the evenings.
Julie and Carlo the owners were absolutely amazing during our stay and couldn't have been more lovely and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, we loved them so much that we invited them to the wedding! We'll most certainly be back for our first anniversary in September 2011

  • Amazing time shared with friends! We stayed in Lavender House in September 2010 following recommendatios from friends and it lived up to and beyond our expectations. Julie and Carlo were amazing hosts and made us feel very welcome. Both the house and facilities were 5* and you couldn't ask for more beautiful and tranquil surroundings. An absolutely fantastic holiday enjoyed by all and look forward to returning in the near future

  • Wow! What a gem! As soon as we arrived we knew this would be something special. The accommodation is superb and the setting idyllic. Eight of us stayed at Lavender House and having four teenage girls the luxury of having four bathrooms was bliss! The owners, Julie and Carlo, have the expertise of being of hand when advice and assistance is required bjut seem to disappear when rest, relaxation and a siesta beckon. We cannot praise Casa Vialba highly enough. We will be back!

  • Three couples of us rented this villa Oct. 10-17 2004. We had such a wonderful time. Julie and Carlo Narten (the owners) had stocked our kitchen with enough food to get us through comfortably until we could unwind and go grocery shopping. They also had us for cocktails and dinner the first evening and gave us great information on sightseeing and restaurants. It was just a beautiful setting with great day trips nearby and lovely restaurants. We visited Perugiabio, Assisi, Florenceand many others including the jewel-like walled village of Montone which is only a few miles away. There is a fabulous and elegant restaurant in this little village. The villa itself is spacious and comfortable. We had a roaring fire every evening complete with Stella (the dog) curled up in front. For those who visit in the summer, there is a beautiful pool and pool house with grilling facilities which we did use one evening. Julie has horses to ride and the Nartens were great about booking reservations for us in various restaurants. Please feel free to e-mail me for further information about the stay. We all loved it.

  • This is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. I could not fault Lavender House, the pool or the welcome we received from the owners on our first night. Our family felt like royalty for two weeks. The property is secluded enough from the other houses so we did not lose our privacy. The Umbrian countryside was stunning and the nearby towns were beautiful. There was no shortage of decent restaurants and shopping for food was simple in Umbertide. We would definitely come again.

  • Olive House is a beautifully appointed two bedroom house and is one of two rental properties on an estate set into the hills outside Montone, Italy. Olive House is spacious, comfortable and well designed. It has its own swimming pool, television and computer. The owners, Julie and Carlo are hospitable, friendly and very helpful. They stocked the kitchen with ample supplies and had us to dinner our first night, making us feel so very welcome. During our week’s stay, they were discrete, yet available in the event we needed anything. We look forward to our return visit!

  • Carlo & Julie were the perfect hosts. They were attentive and eager to please. The accommodation is spacious, stylishly decorated and easy to relax in. Whether sitting around the pools, on the patio or in the barbecue area the views are stunning, especially when sipping some of the locally produced wines. Our children roamed freely on the site and enjoyed the games room, quad bikes, horse riding and the pinball machine very much. It was great to get a sun tan without getting sand in my toes and being able to relax when necessary in our apartment. When the sun goes down the stars come out and maybe I am wrong, but there seemed to be more and they shined brighter. Excellent! All in all it was an excellent holiday with our hosts working really hard to make it so. I can’t wait to go back.
